  • Length & softness are NOT indicators of healthy hair.
  • Growth is not always a primary goal. 
  • There is no certain “look” you have to have to “go natural.”
  • Unkempt fros and freeform locs are not directly correlated to hygiene or social/financial status.
  • You may not mean for your hair to be a protest sign, but that won’t stop a significant number of people from seeing it that way. 
  • You do not have to adopt a particular hair regimen just because you have natural hair. 
  • Coarse is not a curse word. 
  • Not all people with natural hair subscribe to the number-letter texture naming system. 
  • Products are a hobby, nothing more.
  • Not all TWAs and short cuts are transition styles or big chops. 
  • And no. You really can’t touch my hair.
