Anonymous asked: Did Christianity ever impact your life as a lesbian?

No.

Though my father is Catholic and my mother is Baptist (or maybe was, I think she identifies as nondenominational/”a believer” now), I wasn’t exactly raised in the church. We would accompany family & friends and attend on holidays, but we never went on our own.

I can’t remember a time when I believed. I remember being really young in Sunday school and having my questions ignored or brushed off. After that, nothing stuck with me.

I’m not against organized religion—I think it helps so many people—but it’s not necessary for me nor my spiritual journey. And I’m not against Christianity, specifically, either. But I am against white Jesus, using religion to promote personal gain, and using religion as a form of control.

Ranted a little there, but, once again, no. Religion has not directly affected my sexuality.
